In Europe, DOT 3 brake fluid is now mainly recommended for older vehicles having been largely superseded by DOT 4 although it is still used widely in some parts of the world for example the USA. Department of Transportation state that DOT 3 must have a minimum dry boiling point of 205⁰/401⁰F, a minimum wet boiling point of 140⁰/284⁰F and a Kinematic Viscosity at -40 °C of 1500 cSt maximum.

We currently have **17** specifications available in this category

Be careful, there is no official specification or definition of what constitutes “Super DOT 4”. In the industry, it is usually taken to mean a DOT 4 fluid meeting the DOT 5.1 criteria for boiling point and wet boiling point but not the low-temperature viscosity. However, it is legally open to anyone to call their DOT 4 “Super” and people actually do this. It is therefore a good idea to find out what anyone using the term means by it.

We currently have **5** specifications available in this category.

DOT 4 brake fluid is widely used both for factory fill and for the aftermarket. Its performance provides an improved safety margin over DOT 3 types while remaining compatible with DOT 3 fluids. Department of Transportation state that DOT 4 must have a minimum dry boiling point of 230⁰/446⁰F, a minimum wet boiling point of 155⁰/311⁰F and a Kinematic Viscosity at -40 °C of 1500 cSt maximum

We currently have 53 specifications available in this category
